The Landscape Changes Four Times a Year
Between Saintes and Rochefort, the Boutonne spills over its banks in winter and retreats again in spring. Around the Logis, hedgerows, vineyards, fields and the river create a landscape that never looks quite the same from one season to the next.
Where Time Slows Down
At the Logis, time seems to slow down naturally. Perhaps because here, we find ourselves paying more attention to what surrounds us: the changing light across the fields, meadows covered with water in winter, the first flowers of spring, long summer evenings, or the mist returning with autumn.
We live with these landscapes throughout the year, and they are as much a part of the Logis as its old stone walls and gardens. When we welcome our guests, we also love sharing this countryside with them: the paths, the river, the villages, the markets and all those places you might not necessarily think to seek out on your own.
These photographs have been taken over the years, around the Logis and in the countryside that surrounds it. They were not chosen to present a picture-perfect setting, but to show the place as we experience it: a particular light over the fields, the garden coming back to life, the Boutonne overflowing its banks, the autumn mists or the first frosty mornings.
These are the small changes we still notice, even after all these years. They give the Logis a different atmosphere with every season, and they are part of what we hope to share with those who come to stay here.
